A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is a musical comedy based on the 1907 Roy Horniman novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal. The musical features book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman, and music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. The show opened on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre on November 17, 2013 and ran until January 17, 2016. The production won four Tony Awards at the 68th annual Tony Awards in 2014, including Best Musical and Best Book.

The story features Monty Navarro—an heir to a family fortune—who sets out to jump the line of succession by knocking off the eight relatives who stand in his way, all while trying to juggle the affection of two beautiful ladies. National tours across the United States were also launched in 2015 and 2017, followed by an Australian production in 2018.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder performed in the first hour of the NBC broadcast of the 2014 Parade, as one of five Broadway shows performing that year.

The selected performance was "I've Decided to Marry You," a number from the musical's second act in which Monty's (Bryce Pinkham) countess Phoebe (Lisa O'Hare) arrives unexpectedly when Sibella (Catherine Walker), Monty's other love interest, is at his house. Monty finds himself stuck both literally and figuratively between his two lovers.
