Americana Spheres are a set of novelty balloons from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. These novelty balloons represent the American Flag.

History with the Macy's Parade

They first flew in 1996, as two generic sphere-shaped balloons that were in a solid red and blue color, which followed the Pushfloats. These balloons retired the same year they debuted.

In 1999, they reappeared with a brand-new, more modern design. This time, the balloons drew inspiration from the American flag, with the blue balloon featuring 50 stars, and the red balloon having 13 red stripes, alongside white stripes. These balloons appeared every year until 2008 when they were retired.

They made their return in 2018, as new balloons that look almost exactly the same as the previous version. The differences being on the blue ball, there are more stars, and on the red ball, the waves of color are less exaggerated. These new Americana Spheres only appeared in the 2018 Parade, and have yet to make another appearance. However, the Red Americana Sphere was used as a backdrop for Celine Dion's NBC performance at the Macy's Parade Studio, alongside a Poinsettia, a Blue & White Macy's Star, two of the Opening Macy's Stars, Rexy, and the Brick-Changer.
