Angelina Ballerina is a cartoon mouse from children's books written by Katharine Holabird. She loves to dance ballet and dreams of becoming a famous prima ballerina. Her series has had over twenty books since the first one was published in 1983.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
A float featuring Angelina first rolled out in the 2002 Macy's Parade on a special float promoting her new animated series, which was airing on PBS. At the front of the float, a stage stood for the featured ballet group, while a giant wooden figure of Angelina stood on the back of the float. Just behind her, a stage stood with cardboard props, reminiscent of ballet recitals. Many ballerinas danced beside and on the float. The float has since been retired in 2004.
