Beatlemania was a Broadway musical revue based on the music of The Beatles and the band's key events and changing attitudes of the tumultuous 1960's. It ran from May 1977 to October 1979 for a total of 1,006 performances. The show took the form of a roughly chronological history of The Beatles with a total of 29 songs performed during the show. The ground-breaking multimedia production was notable for its extensive use of backdrops, projected images on multiple screens, film, newspaper headlines, and video footage to evoke the 1960's and iconic Beatle moments.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
For the 1977 Parade, the cast featuring Joe Pecorino, Mitch Weissman, Les Fradkin, and Justin McNeill as England's beloved rock band, performed "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" on top of the Winter Garden Theatre. It was pre-recorded as one of the acts while the parade still marched to Herald Square and addtionally, the cast would appear in the lineup, riding on a classic Excalibur Car.
