Bell Biv DeVoe (also known as BBD) is a spin-off of R&B music group New Edition, featuring three members—Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe—who also inspired the group’s name. It was formed following the parent group’s tour in support of the 1988 album Heart Break. BBD is best known for their multi-platinum debut album Poison, which was released in 1990 and features the singles “Poison” and “Do Me!” Three other albums—Hootie Mack, BBD, and Three Stripes—were released by the group over the next three decades. In 2023, BBD performed with The Boston Pops Orchestra at the 2023 Winter Classic.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Bell Biv DeVoe made their first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 2023, nearly 40 years after its parent group performed. The trio performed on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem float, joining the Heroes in a Half Shell to battle rouge mutants.
The group performed their smash-hit single, "Poison," with backup choreography by the New York-based Boss Kids dance troupe.
