Cabbage Patch Kids are a line of soft sculptured toy doll like creatures sold by Xavier Roberts and registered in the United States copyright office in 1978. The doll brand was one of the most popular toy fads of the 1980s and one of the longest-running doll franchises in the United States.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Cabbage Patch Kids made their Macy's Parade debut with a brand-new float in 1984. The float featured a treehouse with many Cabbage Patch Kids walkarounds. This float became a crowd-pleaser for only three years until its retirement after the 1986 Parade. The following year, the Cabbage Patch Kids debuted a new float depicting a playground, but it was retired shortly afterwards, and the Cabbage Patch Kids franchise hadn't been represented since.
