History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Centerville Jazz Band has made appearances in two Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades.
When it was still known as the Centerville High School Marching Band, it, along with its coed drill team, made its debut in the 1982 Parade as the leading band of the procession.
After the name change, the Centerville Jazz Band performed in the 2021 Parade. Creative Director for Macy's Parade, Wesley Whatley highlighted the band's style of playing big band jazz music, adding the band's unique style caught the attention of the Parade team.
Though the band was originally slated to appear in the 2020 Parade, concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic caused the band's invitation to be deferred to 2021.
For their 34th Street performance, the Jazz Band performed a rendition of the Stan Kenton Orchestra's version of the classic Christmas song, "The 12 Days of Christmas".
