Cher is a singer and actress often referred to by the media as the “Goddess of Pop.” She started as one-half of the folk-rock duo Sonny & Cher before launching a six-decade-long solo career. In the 1970s, Cher released several pop hits, including “Half Breed,” “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves,” and “Dark Lady,” all of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She explored several music genres in the coming years, releasing a disco album, Take Me Home, in 1979 and several rock-inflicted albums such as Cher (1987), Heart of Stone (1989), and Love Hurts (1991) all of which skyrocketed hit singles such as "I Found Someone", "If I Could turn Back Time", and "Love and Understanding". In 1998, Cher released Believe, which featured a title track that became one of the biggest-selling singles ever, achieving gold, platinum, and multi-platinum status. She continued her music career with Closer to the Truth in 2013, Dancing Queen (a collection of ABBA covers) in 2018, and Christmas in 2023. Cher has sold over 100 million records to date, making her one of the world’s best-selling recording artists.

In addition to music, Cher has several acting credits to her name, including Silkwood, Mask, Moonstruck, Mermaids, If These Walls Could Talk, and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Cher’s achievements include a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Tony Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and an Oscar, among many others.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Cher made her Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 2023, kicking off the holiday season with a performance "DJ Play a Christmas Song from her album, Christmas. The much-publicized performance served as a musical prelude to the Parade’s grand finale—the arrival of Santa Claus.
