The Countmobile and The Sloppy Jalopy are two vehicles on Sesame Street, introduced to the show during the '70s. The Countmobile was first seen in Episode 0716, as the personal car of Count von Count. Its license plate is "12345678910" and can reportedly fit ninety-nine of The Count's bats. The Sloppy Jalopy debuted in Episode 1252, used by Oscar the Grouch for his taxi service. Its license plate is "PHO-OEY" and has a design that takes inspiration from a Volkswagen bug. Both vehicles had significantly increased roles in Follow That Bird, used by their owners and company to help in searching for Big Bird throughout the film. Despite this, both of the cars began to show up less around the '2000s, usually having appeared in animated form since then.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

In order to promote the first Sesame Street theatrical film, Follow That Bird, the Children's Television Workshop introduced two vehicles, The Countmobile and The Sloppy Jalopy in the 1984 Parade, to appear with the Kermit the Frog balloon. Walk-around versions of The Count and Oscar drove their cars down the Parade route, accompanied by some of Sesame Street's human characters, and walk-arounds of other Muppets, including Ernie, Bert, Big Bird, and two Honkers, who traveled the route on foot. Both vehicles weren't seen in the Parade after this.

However, the Sloppy-Jalopy made a brief return appearance during the telecast of the 2019 Parade; as the Sesame Street cast prepare to make their way to the spectacle, Jane Krakowski rides in the Jalopy's passenger seat, thanking Oscar for agreeing to drive her to the Parade, to which he reminds her to "never thank a Grouch."
