History with the Macy's Parade[]
Debbie Gibson made her first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 1997, appearing and performing on the "Chocolate Colorworks" falloon, furnished by M&M's Chocolate Candies. The pop sensation belted out a rendition of her debut single, "Only in My Dreams", which had previously reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Larger-than-life M&M's characters and candy-colored construction workers provided backup choreography to the energetic number.
Gibson returned to the Parade's line of march more than two decades later, appearing and performing in the 2019 Macy's Parade. This time, she hitched a ride on the Shimmer and Shine float, which featured a whimsical world of genies, magic lamps, cascading rainbow waterfalls and sparkling clouds. For her 34th Street performance, Debbie Gibson performed the carefree, youthful anthem "Electric Youth".
Ciara, who was a judge on America's Most Musical Family alongside Gibson, also appeared in the 2019 procession, appearing on the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles float.
