Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical Live! is a Christmas-themed musical television special that aired on NBC on December 9th, 2020. The special was a performance of the 2006 Broadway musical, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, which itself was based on the iconic How the Grinch Stole Christmas picture book. The musical was first announced in November 2020 and featured Broadway star Matthew Morrison as the title character. Filmed at London's Troubadour Theatre, the musical tells the story of the small-hearted Grinch, who hates the whole Christmas season and schemes to ruin the festive holiday for the citizens of Whoville.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical Live! made its first and only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance during the reimagined 2020 Parade telecast. The musical was pre-recorded for the television-only event and featured the musical's cast singing the show's opening song, "Who Likes Christmas", in which the citizens of Whoville celebrate and enjoy the festivities of the Christmas season.

The intro and outro of the performance featured Matthew Morrison as The Grinch, promoting the then-upcoming airing. This appearance marks the first time Morrison was seen in his Grinch attire outside of advertisements and promotional clips.
