The Early Bird is a balloon from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade
The Early Bird balloon made its Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 1928 and was one of the first-ever balloons to be created by Goodyear. Not much is known about the balloon, but details on its release and subsequent findings have resurfaced. After the balloon was released by its handlers, the balloon drifted elegantly into the skies of New York City. Several days later, Lena Steiniger corralled the balloon with the assistance of a radio antenna. She returned the balloon to Macy's and was rewarded $100 cash. Since 1928, the Parade has been without an Early Bird balloon, and it is currently unknown if a likeness of the balloon will be made in the future.
