History with the Macy's Parade[]

Ed Begley Jr. made his first and only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 1986, promoting his role as Dr. Victor Elrlich on the NBC medical drama, St. Elsewhere. Fittingly, Begley rode from 77th Street to Herald Square in Macy's own Clown Ambulance, with a whole medical team full of Daffy Doctors and Nutty Nurses who were also new to the lineup that year.

Parade host Stepfanie Kramer interviewed Begley for NBC's brodcast of the event before he joined the lineup, discussing the marching bands appearing in the procession that year, as well as his own experiences in a high school marching band. Begley in turn interviewed a member of the Fort Mill Marching Band, who shared her excitement of marching in a world-class event.
