Elf Pets: Santa's Saint Bernards Save Christmas is an animated 2018 home media Christmas special based on the Elf on the Shelf. The story is about what happens when an entire town forgets the true spirit of the Christmas season. Santa discovers there's not enough spirit to make Christmas magical so he asks for help from his loveable Scout Elves, an adorable slew of Saint Bernard pups and one big-hearted family to bring back Christmas spirit. They work together to change their community for the better and ensure Santa's yuletide mission succeeds.
History with the Macy's Parade
A float entitled "Santa's Saint Bernards Save Christmas" debuted in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2018. The float accompanied the Elf on the Shelf balloon en route to 34th Street and featured animated sculptures of Santa's saint bernards and reindeer. Joining the furry friends, Chippey and Snowflake, two of Santa's most-trusted scout elves, wave to the crowd as they remind Parade spectators that Christmas spirit is ultimately found through faith, hope, and love.
In 2019, the arctic fox cubs from A Fox Cub's Christmas Tale joined the scout elves, saint bernards, and reindeer. The float was also given a name change, with it now being entitled "Christmas Cheer is Near".
