The Fire Engine is a clown vehicle from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Fire Engine made its debut in the 1980 Parade, appearing alongside the Smoking Outhouse and Fire Pumper props. The vehicle features a tricycle-turned-fire engine, complete with a ladder, buckets of water (aka confetti), and a hose to extinguish the feirce flames on the outhouse. During its first two appearances, it followed the Smokey Bear balloon, aiding in the preaching of forest protection.
After the Smokey balloon was retired, the Fire Engine would be joined by non-themed clown units for several years, until the introduction of the Clown Fire Brigade in 1987. It appeared with this group for just over a decade before it was retired after the 2001 Parade.
Following its retirement from the Parade, the Fire Engine made appearances from 2002 through 2004 in the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando Resort.
