Fitz and the Tantrums is an indie pop band that was founded in Los Angeles in 2008. With the ubiquitous anthem “HandClap,” platinum-selling hits “Out of My League,” and the retro soul-inspired “Money Grabber, Fitz and The Tantrums have been bringing their dancefloor-ready bounce to pop radio and sold-out venues everywhere since their founding. Band members include Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs (vocals), James King (saxophone, flute), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards), Joseph Karnes (bass), and John Wicks (drums, percussion).
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Fitz and the Tantrums made their first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 2016. The neo soul band made an appearance on The Aloha Spirit float from King's Hawaiian, which featured a volcano erupting with confetti, a working waterfall, and lush greenery decorating a mountainscape. For their appearance on the NBC telecast, the group performed their signature anthem, "HandClap."
The band returned to the Parade's line of march for the 2022 Parade, now appearing on The Brick-Changer float from The LEGO Group with a feel-good frenzy.
