The Macy's Football is a classic novelty balloon from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Football (1991-2001)[]
The balloon first appeared in the 1991 parade, alongside the Baseball and Basketball balloons. This Novelty balloon would Tag along Behind Floats, Units and Bands, Like the Rawlings Falloon in it's debut and in 1993, The YMCA'S 140th Anniversary Float in 92, The Big Apple Float in 94 and 95, The Pep Rally Float in 96, 97 and 00, The NYPD Mounted Unit in 98, and the Pearl High School Pirate Band in 99 (The Year it was Removed). This version appeared until 2001, when it was retired, likely to not cause confusion with the Charlie Brown balloon's football novelty.
Football (2006-2007, 2010-2011, 2014)& Football (2013)[]
However, once he retired, it returned in 2006 with a new design and a bolder "Macy's" text. It also appeared at the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando Resort. This version retired in 2007, came back in 2010 and retired again in 2011, for good. Another new design debuted in 2013, which also appeared at the Macy's Holiday Parade. The football retired from the Macy's Parade again in 2014 for the final time, making 18 appearances. The third Football balloon remained at Universal Studios until 2015.
