Fred Gwynne (July 10th, 1926 – July 2nd, 1993) was an American actor, artist, and author who was widely known for his roles in the 1960's television sitcoms like Car 54, Where Are You? as "Francis Muldoon" and The Munsters as "Herman Munster", as well as his later film roles in The Cotton Club, Pet Sematary, and My Cousin Vinny.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
For his two first Thanksgiving processions of 1961 and 1962, Gwynne appeared twice alongside Joe E. Ross riding in their signature Patrol Car 54 from the sitcom Car 54, Where Are You?.
For his third time in the 1963 Parade, he was featured on a new float titled "Here's Love" with Janis Paige, Craig Stevens, and Valerie Lee.
For his fourth and final time in 1964, Fred dressed as the popular "Herman Munster" from CBS's The Munsters alongside Al Lewis as "Grandpa Munster" while riding on the iconic Munster Koach.
