GoldieBlox is an American toy company that markets interactive toys designed for girls. GoldieBlox, which pairs a construction kit with a storybook, launched in 2012 as a prototype on Kickstarter. Its Kickstarter campaign led to more than $1 million in pre-orders placed in the first month. It has gone on to sell in retailers including Toys "R" Us and Amazon. The company was founded by Debbie Sterling, a Stanford engineering graduate and entrepreneur. The company is based in Los Angeles, California.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The GoldieBlox float was introduced to the Parade in 2014, titled "Girl-Powered Spinning Machine". This float is also known for consisting of three separate bases connected together. The first base features a large pinwheel with Goldie herself pedaling on a bicycle-like energy machine, which powers the spinning machine. The second base includes a double-decker fort with two hamster wheels in the bottom, and a canopy on the top, where the performer would appear on. At the highest point of the float, Nacho, Goldie's pet dog, chases his tail. On the third and final portion features various of Goldie's animal friends hitching a ride on a spinning parachute machine. The float was retired after the 2016 Parade.
