History with the Macy's Parade[]

Starting in 1928, Tony Sarg collaborated along with Goodyear in order to create the Parade's iconic balloons, In the first few years, Goodyear created simple-shaped balloons in the form of elephants, horses, tigers, birds and humans. Some of the first character balloons produced by Goodyear included The Katzenjammer Kids, Mickey Mouse, and Felix the Cat. Over the next fifty years, Goodyear created many classic Macy's balloons. The partnership with Macy's ended in 1980, with the third Superman balloon, being the last balloon to be produced by Goodyear, The following year in 1981, Kemp Balloons, Inc. would be in charge of the balloons for the next 3 years until 1984 when Raven Aerostar Industries would take charge.
