greendog was a line of children's clothing created by the Macy's department store chain. Very little is known about the company, other than its founding in the year 2000. The company's mascot, Green Dog, was a white dog with a green ring around its right eye, whose favorite food was pizza, and his favorite word was "wowzers".
The line of clothes were discontinued by Macy's in 2013.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
To help promote the clothing line, Macy's sponsored a Greendog falloon to appear in the Parade for the first parade in the new millennium. The base of the float was recycled from the previous year's Pets.com falloon, and a simple Greendog cold-air inflatable stood on top. This version of the float would only appear in the 2000 Parade.
The float was expanded on the following year in 2001, with an over-sized doghouse, a bouncy ball, and food dish, in which the celebrities/performers appeared in, with the base of the float being expanded. The float made appearances until 2004 when it was retired. Although the falloon is retired, the float escort costumes were still used in the Macy's Holiday Parade in Seattle until the Parade ended in 2019.
After a leap of absence from the 2005 Parade, greendog would make it's return to the Parade in 2006, with a brand-new float titled "Starship Discovery". The float features a state-of-the-art headquarters where kids are making fascinating, fun discoveries in science and space exploration. Additionally, the float houses an interactive giant telescope, solar system, space mission controls, and an in-house science lab. The float would make repeat appearances in 2007 and 2008, when it was retired, bringing an end to greendog's history with the Parade.
