The Hoedown Clowns are a clown unit from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Hoedown Clowns made their debut in the 2012 Macy’s Parade, featuring cowboys and cowgirls throwing a holiday hootenanny, swinging their partners round and round down the streets of New York City. The Cowboy and Cowgirl Stilt Walkers later joined the clown unit in 2017.
In 2020, the Hoedown Clowns were pulled from the lineup to reduce the number of participants due to rising COVID-19 cases. They returned to the line of march the following year and made their most recent appearance in the 2022 Parade, joined by every cowboy’s trusty stead, the Rocking Horse.
Trivia[]
- The Hoedown Clown costumes previously appeared with the Western Clowns and the Oklahoma Rising! float.
