Hugo the Football Hero is a giant balloon that appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1941.

History with the Macy's Parade

Not much is known about this balloon, other than it is a redesign of the first Superman balloon. It features him with his hands on his hips, sporting a red football jersey with a white letter "M" on it, which stands for Macy's. The balloon was paired with a football balloon, (similar to fellow balloon Charlie Brown). Much like all the other balloons from this time period, the rubber from this balloon and the football balloon were donated to the U.S. military for war efforts at WWII.
