Indians are the nationals and citizens of India, the second most populous nation in the world, containing 17.50% of the world's population. The term "Indian" refers to nationality, rather than a particular ethnicity or language; the Indian nationality consists of dozens of regional ethno-linguistic groups, reflecting the rich and complex history of the country. Due to emigration, the Indian diaspora is present throughout the world, notably in other parts of Asia, North America, Europe, the Caribbean, Oceania, and Africa.
History with the Macy's Parade
The Giant Indian made his Parade debut in the 1935 Parade, standing at a whopping six-stories tall. The balloon featured an Indian chief sporting traditional Native-American attire, such as colored feathers and a loin cloth. The balloon was retired after the 1936 Parade, and is unlikely to return to today's Parade due to the balloon's offensive and stereotypical design.
