Janet Lynn Kavandi, a native of Carthage, Missouri, (born July 17, 1959) is an American scientist and a NASA astronaut. She is a veteran of three Space Shuttle missions and has served as NASA's Deputy Chief of the Astronaut Office. She is currently the Center Director at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

History with the Macy's Parade

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing in 2019, Dr. Janet Kavandi, alongside fellow former NASA astronaut Kay Hire, were selected to appear in that year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. During this appearance, the two would appear atop the newly-refurbished Snoopy's Doghouse float, alongside a costumed character version of Charlie Brown.
