Jett is the main protagonist of the South-Korean animated series, Super Wings, as the episodes usually revolve around him delivering a package to a child somewhere in the world, then assisting the recipient with something they have to do. Jett is always eager to go make deliveries. Being still a little plane, he also enjoys playing with his friends Dizzy, Donnie, and Jerome very much. He is also very sympathetic when children need help, but he always needs additional help from one of the other Super Wings to fix everything up or, at times, to save himself from a sticky situation, like in "Gorilla Band" or in "Follow that Ghost".

History with the Macy's Parade

In 2017, everyone's favorite robot-plane, Jett, reached extraordinary new heights as he took on a new form transforming into a giant character helium balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In his larger-than-life configuration to match his personality, Jett became the widest balloon in that year's Parade, with a wingspan of 39 feet wide, a record which the balloon held the record for at the time of his appearance, and he became the first-ever South Korean balloon in the Parade. The balloon is also notable for being the shortest giant helium balloon at the time, standing at only 31-feet tall. He was retired after the 2019 Parade, making the usual tenure of three appearances.

Music

Below, you will find the music tracks that played during the balloon's appearance on the NBC telecast.

  • "Super Wings Theme Song" (2017-2019)

Incidents

  • In 2017, due to the width of the balloon, one of Jett's wings and one of the handling lines from Jett's right arm became snagged on tree branches just before step-off but was luckily freed with no damage done to the balloon.
  • In 2019, a large gust of wind pushed Jett to the left when turning a corner. This caused a male balloon handler to lose grip of his handling bone, and fall onto the pavement. He suffered an elbow and knee injury.

Defects

  • In 2018 and 2019, Jett's right arm had to be bent by his handlers in order to prevent it from getting snagged by a lamppost by the high winds of that year's Parade.
