Jimmie Allen is an American country music singer and songwriter. In 2018, this singer made history as the first Black artist to launch a career with two consecutive No. 1 hits on country radio (“Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To”) off his debut album Mercury Lane. He followed that with his 2020 album Bettie James, which was lauded by critics and loved by fans who helped it clock 171-plus million streams. Jimmie has built on that album’s success with Bettie James Golden Edition, an effort rooted in country music but a nod to his cross-genre influences. It features an additional nine new songs with guests such as Babyface, Pitbull and Keith Urban.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Jimmie Allen was originally set to make his Parade debut in the reimagined 2020 Macy's Parade, alongside singer Noah Cyrus. The duo were set to perform "This Is Us," a collaboration between the two, from aboard the "Winning Winter Together" float sponsored by MassMutual/NHL. However, Allen withdrew from his performance as a result of a 'minor family emergency,' notifying fans of his absence on Twitter.[1]
Allen would be able to appear in the lineup for the 2021 Parade, now riding on Green Giant's "Harvest in the Valley" float, which depicts a bountiful harvest of fall veggies overlooked by the Green Giant himself. Surrounded by sunny sunflowers and peppy pumpkins, Allen performed a shortened rendition of his hit song collaboration with Brad Paisley, "Freedom Was A Highway."
