John T. Piper (born January 28th, 1956) is the former Vice President and Senior Creative Director of the Macy's Parade Studio. Piper oversaw the design and production of all balloons, floats and elements for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Piper and his Parade Studio team also produced large scale events for Macy's such as the 4th of July Fireworks, touring productions, large scale Holiday events and numerous spring Flower Shows.
Piper first joined the Parade Studio team in 1980 as a carpenter, after taking notice to a flyer on a call board. Over the next two decades, Piper would work his way up the ladder of the Parade Studio team, eventually taking over for Manfred Bass after his retirement in 2000, when Piper was named Senior Director. Piper later retired from the Parade Studio in January 2020, and was replaced by Lenny Drenski.
