History with the Macy's Parade[]

Joseph Ammons started his career with Macy's in June 2011, becoming a graphic artist and illustrator for Macy's Visual Merchandising. Ammons continued this job for several years, before becoming a concept artist and designer at the Macy's Parade Studio in November 2017.

Ammons has since designed several balloons, floats and other novelties for the famed holiday spectacle. His interests of speculative fiction, sci-fi and space exploration have influenced several of his designs, such as The Brick-Changer float, the Her Future Is STEM-Sational float and the Astronaut Snoopy balloon, respectively.

Ammons was one of three members of the in-house design team, alongside Eric Hudspeth and Loryn Sotsky, before leaving the Studio in May 2022. Since departing from Macy's, Ammons has founded Uncanny Robot Studios, a creative studio that focuses on immersive storytelling experiences.
