The Keystone Cops are a clown unit from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Keystone Kops & Robbers first caused a jailbreak on the Parade route in 1996, and featured Parade participants dressed as Victorian-era police offers with their batons chasing down prison inmates who made a recent grand heist. During the clown unit's first few appearances, the kooky cops drove a bicycle that was made to look like a prison cell, where many clown convicts could be spotted escaping with the help of other comical criminals.
Since 2011, the clown group has escorted the Tough Guy and Bulldog trycaloons along the streets of NYC. They also lead the way for the Harold the Policeman novelty balloon from its debut in 2011 up until its retirement in 2016. The clown group took a hiatus from the lineup following the 2019 Macy's Parade.
In 2021, the Keystone Cops & Robbers joined forces with the Funny Firefighter Brigade and the Funny Bone Medical Team to create an all-new clown group known as the Funny First Responders, who fall over themselves as they try and save the day.
The Keystone Cops returned to the line of march in 2022.
