History with the Macy's Parade
Lifetime made their Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in the reimagined 2020 Parade, with a new float titled "Christmas in Town Square". The float was inspired by Lifetime's popular It's A Wonderful Lifetime holiday movie event, which features the premier of over 30 original Christmas films.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lifetime to our 94th Parade spectacle,” said Jordan Dabby, producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Our talented and creative Parade Studio team worked hand-in-hand with Lifetime to bring to life this festive new holiday float that will delight millions on Parade morning.”
The Christmas in Town Square float features a quaint cobblestone main street, charming store fronts and lighted lanterns with the Macy's Parade Studio's artisans using various New England towns as reference, all built in forced perspective. Adding to the merriment are twinkling icicle lights, Christmas trees, and lots of snow which could create over 9,000 snowballs. Reminiscent of a scene from a holiday movie, the two-and-a-half story tall display will transport Parade viewers to the romantic setting of so many of their favorite holiday stories. Capping the float is gigantic, nine-foot wide Christmas ornament that features a special performance.
