The Macy's Parade Brigade Clowns are a group of clowns from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

The 90th Parade Clowns made their debut in the 2016 Macy's Parade, celebrating the famed holiday spectacle's 90th anniversary milestone. The costumes themselves were recycled from the Funday Times Press Corp Photographer Clowns. Fashioned to evoke the look of old-timey clowns, the clown group wears large hula-hoop pants with suspenders, bowties and colorful clown wigs, all colored with the Parade's color scheme of red, yellow and blue. Rounding out the jolly ensemble is a red bowler hat with a yellow stripe.

In 2017, the clown group was renamed to the "Parade Brigade Clowns," though no physical changes were made to the costumes. The Parade Brigade Clowns would lead the way that year with the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" Banner.

The Parade Brigade Clowns were scheduled to don masks and make a special appearance at the television-only 2020 Parade. However, as COVID-19 cases rose throughout New York City in the weeks leading up to the Parade, a reduction of participants was made and several Parade elements were pulled from the line of march, including the Parade Brigade Clowns.

The clown unit would return for the 2021 Macy's Parade, however, carrying with them signs that featured the official logo for the Parade's 95th procession.
