The Nutty Cracker Ballet Clowns, previously known as the Nutty Cracker Ballet Clowns and Sugar Plump Fairies, are a group of clowns from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Nutty Cracker Ballet Clowns made their first Parade appearance in the 2011 Parade. The clown unit pirouetted down the Parade route depicting Sugar Plum Fairies with long, lavish lavender dresses and a cupcake tiara, waving their magic wands and making wishes come true for millions of Parade spectators.
Beginning in the 2012 Parade, the Nutty Cracker Ballet Clowns escorted the Nutcracker and Mouse King trycaloons to 34th Street, completing a novelty unit based on Tchaikovsky's 1892 play, The Nutcracker. This unit was temporarily expanded in 2016 to include a Mother Ginger balloonicle, however it was retired after only one appearance.
The Nutty Cracker Ballet Clowns returned to the lineup for the reimagined 2020 Parade, sans the Nutcracker and Mouse King trycaloons.
