History with the Macy's Parade[]

In early February 2005, Macy's and the Oklahoma Centennial Commission announced that for the next three years, Oklahoma would be represented by a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, marking it the first time that a state has been represented by a float. The float features an inflatable sun rising over the many landmarks of Oklahoma, including the Golden Driller and RocketMan, among others. The front of the float, Despite the float having a three-year tenure in the Parade, it only made two appearances in 2005 and 2006. The sun was later repainted and used on Jimmy Dean's Shine On float in 2008. The float escort costumes were also recycled into the Hoedown Clowns, who made appearances until 2022.
