Olaf the Snowman is a fictional character from the 2013 animated film Frozen, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Olaf is first presented in the storyline as an inanimate snowman created by Elsa and Anna in their childhood. He then reappears as an animated character in the film as Anna searchers for her runaway sister in hopes of restoring summer. Olaf had reappeared when Elsa accidentally turned the entire kingdom into a wintery abyss. Olaf helps Anna and Kristoff find Elsa and journeys with them all the way back to the kingdom where he remains part of the sisters' life.
History with the Macy's Parade
The ever-lovable Olaf would make his Macy's Parade debut in 2017, in the form of a 60-foot tall giant helium balloon. The balloon was designed by Chris Buck, one of the directors of Frozen, who would later man the balloon during its inaugural flight. The balloon features Olaf reaching out to Parade spectators in hopes of receiving a warm hug. The balloon was made to promote a new featurette, Olaf's Frozen Adventure, which debuted before Disney/Pixar's Coco one day prior to the 2017 Parade. The balloon is also special in that is uses a special glitter-paint mixture to give the effect of snow glistening in the sun. The balloon was retired after the 2019 parade.
Below, you will find a list of the music tracks that played during the balloon's appearance on the NBC telecast.
