Our Boarding House is a single-panel comic strip created by Gene Ahern. The cartoon is set in a boarding house run by the respectable Mrs. Hoople and her tall-tale-telling husband Major Hoople. It was syndicated by Newspaper Enterprise Association and was in print from October 3, 1921 to December 22, 1984.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Our Boarding House was represented by a balloon in the 1930 Macy's Christmas Parade amongst other funny page favorites as part of its advertised "Comic Parade." The balloon featured a turkey and a hearty bowl of gravy above a banner bearing the strips name. Mr. Hoople (a Paper-Mache figure) was suspended below the balloon.
