P.B. Polar Bear is an original Macy's character that appeared in the form of a falloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
P.B. Polar Bear made his Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 2011 to help celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Macy's Holiday Parade in the form of a falloon -- a half float, half balloon. The falloon featured a larger-than-life polar bear named P.B. decked out in red winter wear as he slips and slides en route to 34th Street on an iceberg.
The float made only one appearance in the main Parade in 2011, and was retired following that. However, the falloon would continue to be used in the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Studios Orlando. From 2011 to 2014, the falloon was the Parade's lead float, replacing the Holiday Beat! falloon. After the 2016 holiday season had finished, the falloon was retired from the holiday parade to make room for its updated successor, Universal's Holiday Parade Featuring Macy's.
