Paul Bunyan is a giant lumberjack and folk hero in American and Canadian folklore. His tall tales revolve around his superhuman labors, and he is customarily accompanied by Babe the Blue Ox, his pet and working animal.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Paul Bunyan first appeared as a solo float in the 1951 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and was retired after the procession. He would later come back with Babe the Blue Ox and other American folk heroes on a new float from Reynolds Group Holdings from 1989 to 1991.
