Peter Nero (May 22nd, 1934 – July 6th, 2023) is an American pianist and pops conductor. He directed the Philly Pops from 1979 to 2013, and has earned two Grammy Awards, including the award for Best New Artist in 1962, as well as a total of 8 nominations.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Nero was first involved with Macy's when he conducted the Grand Band Finale at the end of the 1982 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Two decades later, he would play a duet with Ann Hampton Callaway as she sang "I'll Be Home for Christmas" on The Spirit of America float at the 2003 Parade.
