Earth revolves around the Sun in 365.26 days, a period is known as an Earth year. During this time, Earth rotates about its axis about 366.26 times.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Planet Earth (1996)[]

The first Planet Earth novelty balloon was made in the late 1980s. but didn't debut in the Parade until the 70th Anniversary Parade in 1996 and followed the Big Apple float in the route to 34th Street. Little is known about this balloon, other than an appearance in a photo at Macy's Parade Studio. It is known to have only appeared that year and was retired.

Planet Earth (2007-2013)[]

A new novelty balloon based on the planet debuted in the 81st edition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, with the design differing from the previous balloon by having a photo-realistic look.

In 2010, the Planet Earth balloon was accompanied by the Power Rangers, to promote the premiere of Power Rangers Samurai on Nickelodeon the following year. The balloon continued to appear alongside the Power Rangers until 2013, when it was retired and replaced with the Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger balloon the following year.
