Play was a Swedish pop girl group formed in late 2000. The original lineup for the group included Faye Hamlin, Anna Sundstrand, Anaïs Lameche, and Rosie Munter. Play's first single, "Us Against the World," was released in the United States in January 2002. The song charted at number ten on Billboard's Top 100 Singles Sales chart and remained on the chart for 65 weeks. Following the hit album, the group opened for acts such as Destiny's Child and Aaron Carter, and would sell almost one million albums in the next four years.

Founding member Faye Hamlin left the group in October 2003 to pursue a college education and was replaced by Janet Leon. In 2005, the group went on an indefinite hiatus. Faye and Anaïs relaunched the group in 2009 with Sanne Karlsson. The group disbanded for a second time in 2011, and has yet to reform.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Play made their first and only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 2002. The group appeared on the new Teddy Bear Centennial float from Build-A-Bear Workshop, which cele-bear-ated the 100th anniversary of the teddy bear. The four girls gave viewers a Scandinavian-style musical bear hug, with a cover of The Temptations' and The Supremes' "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," from their debut album, Us Against the World.
