The Red Macy's Stars are a pair of novelty balloons from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Red Macy’s Stars made their debut in the 2002 Parade, as a representation of the iconic five-pointed Macy’s logo and celebrating the famed red star that guided R.H. Macy to shore during his days as a seaman.
The balloons, which rounded out the lineup behind the one-and-only Santa Claus, measured 25 feet tall, 24 feet wide, and 12 feet deep. They also made annual appearances in Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando from 2003 through 2007.
The Red Macy’s Stars made their final appearance in 2008, when they were replaced by the Red “Believe” Star balloons. The balloons were last confirmed to exist in November 2014.[1]
Trivia[]
- Three miniature versions of the Red Macy’s Star balloons have been used at a number of media events, most commonly on Float Preview Night and Studio Day.
