Red Titan is a fictional character from the Ryan's World franchise. Red Titan is depicted as the brave and kind superhero alter-ego of Ryan Kaji, the face of the namesake Ryan's Toy Reviews YouTube channel, which boasts approximately 25.4 million subscribers with over 40 billion video views. The character was created by Ryan Kaji's father, Shion and his production company, Sunlight Entertainment.

Red Titan is also one of the most merchandise-heavy characters in the Ryan's World universe, with many toys, video games, coloring and activity books and Halloween costumes based on the character.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Red Titan made his colossal Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in the reimagined 2020 Macy's Parade, as one of two new giant balloons that year. The balloon depicts Red Titan in a flying pose, measuring 42 feet tall, 51 feet long and 29 feet wide, with a cape that is coated in over 15 gallons of red paint. The Red Titan balloon marks the first time a YouTube creator has been featured in the Parade, and the second time an internet icon has been represented, following the Jeeves balloon twenty years prior in 2000.

“We are thrilled to welcome Red Titan to the Macy’s Parade balloon lineup this year,” said Jordan Dabby, producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “The giant balloons in the Macy’s Parade have always featured the most recognized characters in the world, and with the reach of Ryan’s World on YouTube, we are sure that millions of viewers will be delighted to see Red Titan fly this Thanksgiving.”[1]

The giant balloon was unveiled in a special video on the Ryan's World YouTube channel to its more than 25 million subscribers, which featured behind-the-scenes footage of the balloon's conceptual stages at the Macy's Parade Studio and the Kaji family designing their own Parade balloons.[2] Additionally, a YouTube video about the Red Titan balloon on the Ryan's World YouTube channel has been a Thanksgiving tradition for the Kaji family.

During the balloon's debut, it was flown with the help of a framework of five utility vehicles -- a temporary balloon-flying method that was put in place for the giant balloons in the 2020 procession in response to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, and was solely flown down 34th Street for the television-only event.

The Red Titan balloon returned for its sophomore appearance in the 2021 Parade. Unlike its previous appearance, the balloon was flown down the traditional 2.5-mile Parade route by the standard group of 90 handlers, the flight management team, and one utility vehicle.

The balloon fly again in the 2022 Parade, where although the balloon flew a bit low for some of the route, it still swooped in to save the day on the character's third flight through New York City.

Red Titan came back to unbox some more parade surprises in the 2023 Parade.
