Rico is one of the four Penguins of Madagascar and a protagonist of the titular franchise. He is the designated weapons and combat specialist of the Penguins Commandos and has the ability to cough up anything (and everything) in order to help his brothers accomplish their mission.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
Though he never appeared in the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Rico has been represented by two mid-sized balloons in Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's. The first featured Rico piloting a ragtag Blimp as part of the Penguins special mission, Operation: Save Santa.
The second balloon, now featuring Rico more prominently, replaced the Blimp for the 2024 season. Showing off his role as demolition expert, Rico bursts out of a Christmas ornament with a peppermint sledge hammer.
