The Rocking Lobster is a toy float from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and has appeared many times since the early 1980s.

History with the Macy's Parade

The Rocking Lobster made his Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 1980. Clawing his way down the Parade route, the float puts a spin on the classic Rocking Horse, and is complete with a cheery crustacean sporting a Macy's-branded sailor cap. Riding aboard the Rocking Lobster are his many sea friends, including a sailor and a mermaid.

The float has made multiple appearances in the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando Resort, in addition to an appearance at the Hoboken Sesquicentennial Parade in April of 2005.

The Rocking Lobster float was briefly retired after the 2013 Parade, and would return for the 2017 Parade with many underwater friends. Since then, the Rocking Lobster has continued to appear in the line of march.
