History with the Macy's Parade[]
Royal Caribbean first partnered with Macy's in 2004 to create a brand-new float called "Voyage to Adventure". The 21 by 33-foot float was a giant board game that depicted Royal Caribbean destinations such as the Leaning Tower of Pizza, Alaskan glaciers, Mayan ruins, and the Caribbean. Giant dice and a spinner sent the game pieces (which were children dressed as ships) around the board. It made appearances in 2005 and 2006, before ultimately being retired. The spinner would be later used as a decoration at the parade studio
The second Royal Caribbean float first appeared in 2013 to promote their brand-new cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas, which would launch the following year. The float is called "A World at Sea". This float depicted three distinct postcard scenes that took place on board a Royal Caribbean ship. The rotating scenes depict three moments found only on Royal Caribbean, including the cruise line’s signature FlowRider surf simulator, thrilling zip line, and iconic rock climbing wall. This float made subsequent appearances in 2014 and 2015 when it was later retired.
