History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band applied to appear in the famed Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2017, hoping to score a spot in the 2019 Parade lineup. Though they were cut, the Macy's Parade Band Committee encouraged director Chris Kaflik to reapply the following year as they were a runner-up for selection.
In spring 2019, it was announced that the 210-piece Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band would march in the 2020 Macy's Parade during a special presentation, with confetti poppers being launched to celebrate the announcement. The school and band would set up various fundraisers to help them travel to the Big Apple.
Due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the band's 2020 appearance was deferred to the 2021 Macy's Parade, where they marched down the 2.5-mile long Parade route.
The Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band performed a number from the Cirque du Soleil show, Alegria, titled "Mirko" by Rene Dupere, for their 34th Street performance.
