The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture
on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
History in the Parade
The Statue of Liberty float debuted in 1993, and would become one of the longest-running floats in the parade's history. The float features the upper half of the iconic Statue of Liberty in a midly worn-out state, holding its torch and book, and two stars on a U.S. flag platform, which the performers stand on. It lasted until 2010, when it was retired, and no remake has been introduced.
