The Taxi Cab is a clown vehicle from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Clown Taxi first appeared in the 2001 Parade as a comical spin on a classic yellow New York City taxi cab. It was valeted by the Daffy Drivers Driver’s Ed Dropouts at a fare of 10¢ a mile, getting plenty of giggles to the gallon. The following year, the Keystone Kops took charge of the vehicle in pursuit of robbers, before being used by the Funny Business Clowns as a rideshare to work from 2003 to 2006, after which it was temporarily retired. It has appeared regularly since its return in 2015 (with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-19) as a sightseeing vehicle for the City Tourist Clowns.
In addition to appearing in the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Clown Taxi was seen in Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios from 2002 until 2013, carrying the likes of Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat, Betty Boop, the Ghostbusters, and Beetlejuice through the New York Backlot.
