The 69th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on November 23, 1995, in New York City and shown to viewers on NBC that same day from 9 a.m. to noon EST. It was hosted by Katie Couric, Willard Scott and Al Roker. The lineup featured 18 giant helium balloons, 23 novelty balloons, 32 floats and four falloons, 14 marching bands, a host of celebrities, and the one-and-only Santa Claus.

Overview[]

The morning of the 1995 Macy's Parade was gray and windy with temperatures in the 30's. Ballooning into the skies were newcomers Dudley the Dragon from his self-titled television series, popular children's toy Sky Dancer and former Jordan Marsh mascot Eben Bear. Joining the newcomers were classic characters such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, Garfield and Spider-Man.

Riding on the Parade's colorful themed stages was entertainment for all ages. Ann B. Davis of The Brady Bunch fame rode on the Western Village, Parade veteran Shari Lewis lifted spirits on the Dunkin' Donuts "Holiday Sweets" float and country superstar Shania Twain gobbled down the streets on the iconic Turkey float.

The most anticipated guest star of the day, the one-and-only Santa Claus, rode into Herald Square on a colossal snow goose sleigh and rang in the holiday season.
